FOOD AND DRINK | Hilton Heathrow Terminal 5

We envy anyone who gets to eat dinner at the Hilton Heathrow terminal 5. The hotel has two restaurants, both serving a range of delicious, freshly prepared dishes to suit every taste.

Mr Todiwala's Kitchen

The Indian restaurant, Mr Todiwala's Kitchen, is run by chef Cyrus Todiwala, who owns the award-winning Cafe Spice Namaste in London. He has been described as a genius and his restaurant as offering London's finest Indian food. Not much of a name to live up to, then.

The Gallery

The menu at The Gallery is split into categories like 'market dish of the day' and 'spit roasts', and evokes freshness and tradition. Many of the dishes have an innovative twist which makes them hard to resist. Even if you're not a salad person, who could fail to be enticed by black pudding and apple salad with curly endive, lamb's lettuce and sherry oil?

Difficult as it was to decide, we think we'd start with the flaked trout fish cake with poached free-range egg, spinach and parsley cream, before moving onto the lemon-and-thyme-butter basted corn-fed chicken with bread sauce and gaufrettes, and finishing with the apple and pear crumble with real custard.

Both restaurants are open until 10.30pm, and The Gallery has a children's menu.

Gallery & River Bars

The hotel's two bars both overlook the Thames and serve bar food, cocktails and coffees as well as all the usual drinks. The River Bar menu includes a selection of sausages from around the world - think grilled merguez with mint tzatziki salad on olive bread - while the Gallery Bar serves British tapas. The Gallery Bar is open until 11pm, and the River Bar shuts at midnight.

Musetti's Coffee Shop

Cakes, muffins, pastries and sandwiches, along with hot and cold soft drinks, are on offer in Caffe Musetti - and again, there are some unusual combinations. We're intrigued by the salt beef, sauerkraut, sweet onion and Emmental sandwich.

For breakfast, you can either order from the a la carte menu or tuck into the English and continental buffet. You can also get a packed breakfast 24 hours a day from Caffe Musetti.
